  • Michael Blanchard Photography

After my father died, I was drawn to certain people and places. I stumbled upon Michael's photography on Facebook and was immediately taken by his honesty, ability to share, and of course his amazing photographs. We were fortunate enough to meet Michael and learn more about the person behind the lens. He is warm, kind, helpful, and giving. He has chosen to give back and share his amazing gift with all of us! Like Michael, my father was an alcoholic; he found sobriety on Martha's Vineyard and spent the last years of his life living a happy, sober life. We feel incredibly fortunate to be able to work with Michael and honor my father's memory, by helping to spread honesty, kindness, and of course, our love of Martha's Vineyard. Thank you Michael! Vineyard Serenity: Celebrating New Beginnings

I hope the printing of the “Vineyard Serenity” Calendar will become an annual tradition on Martha’s Vineyard. I have an ambitious goal of raising $15,000 on an annual basis to support the New Paths Addiction Treatment Program at Martha’s Vineyard Community Services. But equally important to the funding, is raising public awareness that addiction can devastate all communities, including the beautiful island of Martha’s Vineyard. - Michael Blanchard

    Fighting for My Life:
Finding Hope and Serenity on Martha's Vineyard

    By Michael Blanchard

Michael Blanchard had just received his third DUI in three months this time after falling asleep on the side of the road with the engine running and being wrestled to the ground by a state trooper. Life had just gone from bad to the very worst. Thirty years of drinking had narrowed his choice to a simple decision between jail and an addiction rehab center. Michael chose a three-month rehab program; and when he came out, began to dedicate his life to staying sober. This is his story painful, provocative, and, because he has used photography as one of his mainstays in his efforts to keep from drinking, both beautiful and moving.
