As I write of my happiest memories of you, I cannot help but smile, and despite the fact that my smile is subsequently followed by a steady flow of tears, I am comforted by the fact that I was blessed to have been loved by you. My happiest times with you were as simple as just being with you, whether it was riding and singing in your jeep or relaxing on Bass River. In your presence I was safe and happy. You were my heart dad which is where you have been and will forever be. I can imagine you saying about your death with sarcasm and of course a giant grin “ time to give someone else a chance”. Thank you for the gift of life and for the strength (many would call it inherited competitiveness) to run with that chance to continue to live as you would have wanted me to. You will certainly continue to make me smile as I have no shortage of your one liners etched in my mind. I hope I make you proud. Cheers Dad.
